LEAP Chairman Explains the Top 3 Concerns for SME Law Firms

Richard Hugo-Hamman, executive chairman of LEAP internationally, was kind enough to share what he believes are the top 3 concerns for small- and medium-sized law firms.

“The successful law firms that I visit, they want three things,” Richard explained.

Satisfying the client

“The first thing is, they actually do, most lawyers, want to satisfy a client. They want a happy client. And in my experience, they worry more about that, than they actually worry about the money. They worry about a successful job for the client.”

There are, of course, 2 main factors for a solicitor being able to complete their challenging work successfully: the talent of the solicitor, and the resources they are working with.

Thousands of legal professionals attend the SOLICITORS group’s educational conferences each year, enabling them to develop their talents and meet their competency requirements. And when they attend, these keen practitioners have the chance to browse and benchmark new supplies and resources for the benefit of their practices.

Doing it efficiently

There is little more important for a professional than an effectively managed workflow. And with solicitors under immense pressure, it can feel like there is always room to improve this.

“Solicitors don’t get any training in being efficient,” Richard says. “In fact, they don’t get any training in running a business at all. So they really need a supplier like us to give them the infrastructure to run a business efficiently.”

Getting paid on time

“Despite reputation, I think making money out of what they’re doing is the third thing that they’re thinking about,” says Richard.

Time recording, accounting and billing systems are some of the most popular services promoted at LAW events, both as standalone services or combined with other products.
